Clean-up Continues

Clean-up Continues

Well this is the 13th run to the landfill with this short bed truck. I have been able to continue the clean up with the mild weather and lack of snow. Until now I have been pretty lucky, but now with mostly small scraps and stuff requiring some shoveling and rake work it would be very hard to do even with this little bit of snow. I’ve saved a great deal of money with my method separating the scrap metal, rubber and plastic hauling those to the landfill then burning the wood scrap. The poor man’s way, or maybe the smart man’s way either way that is my way these days and I enjoy the exercise. The small pile that remains is on top of a concrete slab so it appears to be more than is there I estimate maybe just 5 or 6 more trips to the landfill.

old wood shed

Old Wooden Shed

I’ve posted the old wood shed picture just to remind us what it looked like before I started. The shed was sitting where the concrete slab remains under the remaining scrap. In the beginning some guy wanted to disassemble the shed and take the salvageable members, promising to haul the debris as well. It didn’t turn out exactly that way, in fact his helper tore off the roofing tar paper and the r-tech foam insulation in a thousand little pieces. Then leaving all those scraps and more for someone else to deal with the mess, which of coarse turned out to be me. Well, I’ll get it done, I had to round up a truck just to get started sad part is the guy that tore it all apart had a truck, and it had a full size bed. Oh well once again live and learn.

Trash Piles

Trash Piles

Just so we can appreciate what these piles looked like a while ago and believe me there was a lot of heavy scrap metal and steel and with the depressed steel prices it costs to haul away. Well enough complaining and whining, it’s all good. Furthermore it makes me feel good cleaning this little piece of the Planet up, the location is awesome and the views spectacular. Just think about all the folks that have nothing to do!
